What went wrong with winter 2011-2012? (Part One)

Winter 2011-2012 was a major disappointment for all those who wanted snow in the eastern half of the nation. Almost if you lived in most of the nation actually. Even in the Great lakes region the lake effect snow machine has not been running full speed ahead, like in winters past. We have had coastal lows, just no snow along with them.  Well in this article and video we will discuss what went wrong, with a winter that showed so much promise in October with an historic winter storm that struck the eastern half  of the nation.

First we will discuss what went right in the last two winters that brought along historic snowstorms and cold temperatures and in part two we will discuss some things that went right this winter, just not right enough.
