NAO, AO and PNA, all now showing positive signs for snow lovers in The Mid-Atlantic and Northeast!

What you want when you are looking for a cold and snowy winter is a negative NAO, negative AO, and a Positive PNA. Earlier this past week i was mentioning how the current state of the AO was a concern, but if the models project correctly, it may not be for much longer. The AO is projected to go into the negative range for about the next week, and not only the AO but the NAO is also projected to go negative really soon and the PNA is projected to go positive  We need to closely watch the pattern unfold to see how things are developing, and if this is the pattern change that we all are looking for that will bring snow to the eastern half of the nation this upcoming winter. I will try and have a weekly update on the NAO, AO and PNA since these are huge factors as we head into the fall and winter of 2012-2013.

NAO- AS OF 8/12/12:

State of The PNA

State of the AO

I like your forecast for the mid atlantic! Sounds interesting. I mostly love snow, however Autumn is my favorite time of the year! My question is when do you expect a cool-down for Virginia?
