2013 Farmers Almanac Winter Outlook

Expect a lot of this in the Northeast according to the 2013 farmers almanac!

I don’t agree with the extent of all of the snow and cold into areas of the Midwest and interior northeast and the mix precipitation over the Mid-Atlantic and big-cities and the lack of snow in the southeastern coastal states but the general Idea of cold in the east with above average snowfall and mild in the west. I will be out with my updated outlook hopefully by later today. If not it will be by September 1st 2012.

Thank you Dante, I also question why they would indicate a lack of snow in the southeast, but they did say wet and chilly, which is a general idea that I can agree with.

Yeah, I do NOT agree with Farmers almanac winter prediction with the mid atlantic region to have mix precipitation. I don’t know where they come up with that but i say they are WRONG. many of the weather sites, including weather advance, which makes sense and i agree with the outlook. And even accuweather are calling for it and even the Eyewitness NEWS is predicting it cold weather and above normal snowfall for the mid Atlantic region, let alone the rest of the east coast.

And in general, after 2 winters of snow droughts, we are due for a good, snowy winter here in the mid atlantic region. Until then, i am still crossing my fingers, hoping we will have much better luck for more snow that last year from the winter of 2011-2012.

Anthony, I agree entirely, so many winter outlooks are piling up against the farmers almanac at this point. But they at least have a basic Idea of what winter will be like this year. The Mid-Atlantic are in for a snowy winter by my opinion, Slop storms are possible, but not so much so that that will be the theme of the winter like it has for the past two. Thanks for the comment .

you guys have to remember, if all the precip that fell in DC in the winter was snow they would get 119 inches based on a 10:1 ratio. even if most of the precip is rain or mixed the mid atlantic can still have above average snow. and the almanacs forecast does say below normal temps which would imply above average snow.

Yeah farmers almanac is wrong I don’t agree with any of the Midwest of Hreat Lakes getting cold and snow if anything that region will have below oral preci and warm temps I think will be another dry year for lake effect as well there is no way there will be lake effect this year it’s to dry the drought will keep any snow and cold from forming in this region and the northeast will get it all cold snow and above average snowfall

Anthony, I think just about everyone would agree with that, it is going to be very hard to beat last year’s blowtorch, and if we will ever see that lack of snowfall, it will not happen in an el nino winter, even if the el nino is east-based.

Sorry Jo, your statement has no justification to it. The midwest will get in on the cold, and at least some snow.

i just want to say nobody no for sure what kind of winter we will have. i mean the weather people can’t get
the next days weather right so how can they say what region is going to have a lot of snow and what region will not have a lot of snow for the winter. winter is still a few months away. everybody know what happened last year when all the weather reports said one region would have a cold and snowy season and it turned out to be a very warm winter all of the united states.

I don’t know but I sure don’t want to see above average snow, people seem to forget what problems it causes and then complain after they get the snow they want. We need snow, it’s supposed to snow and I live in the Atlantic Corridor and 25 plus inches of snow incidents during the winter of 2010-11 closed my job for a few days with those state of emergenices. If we get a “normal” snow which is 6 or 8 inches with time in between for it to melt now that is what was in the past. Not the snowmageddons which were unusual then not have much snow at all. So twice we had those pile ups and it may be twice we will have a warmer than usual winter in Atlantic Corridor.

So just to make it clear… Basically all of the websites are predicting the Northeast region (MA, CT, RI, NH, NY, ME, and VT) to be cold and very snowy, correct?
