Looking At Spring 2013

First Off, just 20 more days until daylights savings time. And to be honest I really cant wait for it to warm up. You know that first warm day you feel late winter, that makes you feel like, yeah i like snow, but im ready for it to warm up so i can get out of the house. That feeling. Anyway Daylights savings time which adds one hour of daylight to your day, begins Sunday/March/10/2013.

Now lets talk about spring. Right now I do think that spring will come in just about on time, I do think that there will be a couple of surprise winter storms in March that would make a lot of snow starved snow lovers happy. But for the most part, I expect spring to start on time, in terms of temperature.

Now Severe weather wise. I expect severe weather to be a focal point as we head into the month of April. Especially in the southeast. As you head towards the east coast, I do not expect the severe weather to be as bad, but I do expect to see severe weather break out in the eastern states as well. So far this year we have received 103 tornadoes, which beats the 3 year average by 21, and February inst even over yet. I expect this pattern to continue over the next few months. While I do not expect a repeat of the tornado season of 2011, I do expect a blend of The 2011 and 2012 seasons which still would be above average tornado wise.

Temperature wise, overall in March through May, I agree with the national weather service, that when its all set and done temperatures in most of the lower 48 will have averaged above average for that time period.

So without further or do, here is my national spring 2013 outlook. Any question, please leave them bellow and I will try to answer some of them between 7-8pm today.

Is there anyone who might do a post on this potential ice storm in parts of NC Thursday night into Friday. The NWS has mention of it in the HWO…

So are we posting on this blog entry or the last one? Hope everyone is well, only my second post but I keep up with all of the information Eric provides through the blog and twitter. Looks like my area, Harrisburg PA, might get some snow towards the end of the weekend but more importantly, I see Joe B, Ryan M and Eric hinting to a major mid Atlantic storm around the 1st of March. I figure once this weekend is over and the storm is still showing up on the models, then we will here more info. It would make complete sense as the mid Atlantic is the snow hole this year. Nature has a way of finishing with a blast. Hope to hear info about the storm soon!!

@Yamahas, I have not given up on winter. It actually was a great winter for many areas. If you look into the forecast it leaves open the door for more winter weather in the eastern half of the Nation and the northern tier especially. winter officially does not end until about the 20th of March. Which means there’s about a month left of winter. There are plenty of factors to support more winter weather. Just Certain areas got more than average snow in the southeast and the northeast. Just because A small area did not get much in the east does not constitute it as a bad winter. I’ve seen it snow here in DC between March 28-30th. It can happen.
