Yes, dare I say yet again it looks as if there is a chance for some snow in the northeast. Not I-95 though. Most likely for you this will be a really chilly rain. However a positive sign if you are looking for a snowy winter. The Models seem to be converging onto a solution on track and precipitation type. Now It is way to early to talk snowfall totals, but the layer or rather area of snow where it is possible to fall will be narrow. With a swath most likely of 3-6 inches into Pennsylvania and some pockets of 4-8″+ in new England. Now Some may say the models are saying we will receive a ton of snow in new England. Well the models show what will fall, not what will stick, in general usually the models overdo snowfall this time of year.
Setup is perfect for those north and west of Interstate I-95 as an area of high pressure will be located to your north and cold air is slowly coming into the storm. Which allows for a small layer of snow to fall in areas of Pennsylvania and The Appalachian mountains until the storm is in new England. From there the storm looks to strengthen and pull more cold air in. This is where the most snow may fall. Right now the EURO and GFS are both on board. But we have seen this once before and it blew up in our faces. For now we will test out our new winter weather watches, for areas of potential winter precipitation. Yes we know its early. But this is a test run. In future times it will be within 72hrs of the storm.
