Today at approximately 2pm est, an earthquake, being declared as having a magnitude of 5.9, was felt in the Washington DC metropolitan area. The earthquake was reported all along the east coast from Boston to South Carolina according to the US government site, Science for a Changing World. The center of the earthquake is said to have been near Mineral, MD near two nuclear reactors. Cell phone in addition to land line services were not working or were working on an intermittent basis. Analyst say that after shock could be felt for up to an hour following the original earthquake.
