4/4/2018 Daily Model Rundown – Snow For The Mid-Atlantic

I thought the saying was April Showers bring May flowers. Not April Snow bring May Flowers. Hmmmm, my how times have changed. Nonetheless, here we are. Lets get to the model break down for today.

12Z GFS Model Run 4-4-2018

The GFS has a cold front coming down from Canada from this weekend, and it will be accompanied by some unusually cold air and a storm system will develop and ride up upon it. Its still really hard to belive that this storm is going to quite possibly produce some accumulating snow in the Mid-Atlantic area. Wanna know how crazy this setup is? The weather will really warm up the following week, even as soon as the next day. I would still project this storm system to trend a little further to the north and be mainly rain in the big cities. However its worth noting that this has been consistently been modeled on all of the computer models.

12Z Canadian Model 4-4-18

The Canadian is a little bit warmer overall, and has a really glorified frontal passage. This may be a more likely outcome out of what the canadian and the GFS showed as it seems more realistic for this time of year. This has things really warming up much like the GFS on the next few days. Its a little slower with the arrival of the cold air and faster with the speed of the storm.

12 European Model 4-4-18

The European model at 12Z was far more agressive and warmer.
