4/2/17 Daily Model Rundown

Hello guys and welcome back. Here is just one of the new things we will be doing. Primarily for the mid-atlantic and northeast right now. Its called a model rundown. We will go over what the 06Z GFS or 12Z GFS model run 00Z Canadian and the 00Z Euro say about the upcoming weather pattern in the short term.

06Z GFS MODEL RUN MONDAY APRIL 2 2017

Looking at the 06zGFS model run it is really describing a roller coaster ride temperature wise here in the east. Particullarly the mid-atlantic and northeast. With chances of some light to moderate snow in the northeasr. After a mild FEbruary Winter just seems to want to hang on this year. The highlight of the short term GFSis the major rush of cold air not typical for this time of year late week and into Saturday. How cold? The model as a southern slider type of a system that could bring a wintery mix to Atlanta Georiga. Folks its hard for that to happen in January.Its Early April! Now this is LIKELY overdone as this time of year it usually does not get this cold. So we will have to wait and see.

 

00Z CANADIAN MODEL RUN APRIL 2 2018

The Canadian model does the same thing as the 06Z GFS model run for the upcoming week with up and down temperature swings. However on saturday it not only has temperatures slightly warmer in the southeast. (60’s in Atlanta) but it brings wet snow to the Washington DC and Philidelphia areas with temperatures in the low 30’s. So this is the second computer model that has come out that has given us a similar result. At least with the plunge of cold air projected to come down from Canada. As I said i still think this is largely overdone but we will keep a close eye on this as we go into further daily model breakdowns in the coming weeks.

00z EUROPEIAN MODEL MONDAY APRIL 2 2018

The Euro has something very similar to what was said here in the CMC and has the temperatures in the upper atmosphere cold enough to really support snow. But as we have said before it always looks colder on the models than what it ends up being so this will be closely monitored.
